TRANSITION
Our work around transition is a branch of the Be Bothered campaign, where members want to focus specifically on the issue of young carers not getting support when they transition through education and their personal lives. The ways we are going to address this issue is by the follow projects below. We anticipate we will complete this work by the end of this year.
We would also like to thank Manchester City Council for commissioning Music Stuff to help us work on our music project, the funding to host the transition conference, the purchase of custom hoodies for members and the funding for our residential trip to Ghyll Head.
SONG & MUSIC VIDEOIn 2018, Manchester Young Carers Group worked with the folks at Music Stuff to create a song and music video around the idea of transition for young carers.
Members focused on all aspects of the project, including lyric writing and the creation of music, video and storyboarding, and graphic design. |

Members have inputted into the Young Carers Group booklet regarding the transition of services for young carers in Manchester. This includes:
This report includes personal experiences of what support young carers from the Group had received during these situations, and how they impacted them and their family at home. It is important to capture these experiences to show professionals what it's like to go through transition, and allow professionals to find ways to improve the situation for other young carers. This report was funded and supported by Manchester City Council and The Gaddum Centre (Manchester Carers Network). |

CONFERENCE
Members at the Group hosted a conference on 30th November (in association with Manchester Carers Network) around transition.
Similar to the Group's Be Bothered conference last October (in 2017), this featured a discussion and workshop with professionals across the public and volunteering sector in Manchester on transition, and ways to provide support for young carers in the future.
We also showed the work we've done with the transition report and our song/music video.
